How long does it take to build a high-rise hotel in the middle of Manhattan? Two to three years, maybe? Marriott plans to shrink that schedule to just three months with a new modular construction technique.

The company said it will use the modular method to erect a 26-story AC Hotel at Sixth Avenue and 30th Street in New York City. The public areas of the hotel like the lobby and restaurant will be constructed on-site as usual but the 168 guest rooms will come to the site fully completed and will be stacked on top of the hotel's base one at a time.
