Woozle effect: Word of the day for October 14, 2019

Woozle effect , proper n : The phenomenon whereby frequent citation of earlier publications leads to a mistaken public belief in something for which there is no evidence, giving rise to an urban myth. British author A. A. Milne’s book Winnie-the-Pooh was first published on this day in 1926. It features a story in which Winnie-the-Pooh and Piglet follow their own tracks in the snow, believing them to be the tracks of the imaginary “Woozle”.
