In route news this week, the Big Three U.S. airlines have all filed for new routes to Tokyo Haneda; the FAA finally gives a green light for Washington State's Paine Field to begin commercial operations, with Alaska Airlines and United poised to begin service there; Alaska shifts some routes from regional to mainline jets; United keeps growing at Denver and American expands at Charlotte; Delta trims some Washington Reagan National routes and adds a new one there; Norwegian will enter two new transatlantic markets; Ethiopian adds Chicago flights; and French carrier XL changes New York airports.
