Less than a year after being accused of sexual harassment by more than 30 former employees, disgraced East Bay chef Charlie Hallowell appears to be poised to open a new Berkeley restaurant this week. Named Western Pacific, it is located in a sprawling black building at the corner Shattuck Avenue and Bancroft Way. Hallowell has not returned requests for comment, but dinner reservations for Tuesday, Oct. 30 are currently available on Resy. According to a press release, the restaurant’s menu is built around around pizza and a number of small plates “cooked through the ethos of southern Italy with some hints of North Africa and gentle whispers of the American south.
