A woman’s body was found in a stairwell at San Francisco General Hospital’s power plant building Wednesday afternoon, officials said. A hospital staff member discovered the body at about 1 p.m., said Rachael Kagan, a spokeswoman for the San Francisco Department of Public Health. The woman has not yet been identified. Kagan said she didn’t know if the woman was a hospital employee or patient, or affiliated with San Francisco General. The cause of death also is not known. The case is being investigated by authorities with the public health department, the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department, the San Francisco Fire Department and the San Francisco Police Department.
