LOS ANGELES — Two days before the Giants beat Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers 1-0 in Thursday’s season opener, surely costing some bettors a few shekels, they held an unusual players-only meeting at AT&T Park ahead of the final exhibition game. Usually the manager takes the floor to fire up his team before Opening Day and the players nod. But Bruce Bochy challenged his older group to take ownership of what happens in 2018, and the meeting provided evidence the players took him seriously. “We just felt we had a group that left something on the table last year,” Buster Posey said. “We wanted to make sure we know where we stand, what we expect. Talk is great, but we’ve got to go out and do it.
