SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — Stand down, San Francisco. It looks like Tim Lincecum will not be a Dodger. Yahoo Sports reported Tuesday that the one-time Giants great is close to a major-league deal with the Texas Rangers. He is destined for the Texas bullpen and could even close. Earlier Tuesday, FanRag Sports reported the Dodgers and Rangers were heavily pursuing Lincecum. The thought of Big Time Timmy Jim in that blue uniform left Giants fans queasy. Lincecum threw a showcase in Seattle on Feb. 15 for about 20 teams. The Giants attended. Also, The Chronicle reported that their onetime ace gave the them the courtesy of a private workout beforehand.
